what is

FOCUS learning is a resource for youth workers, trainers and educators. It is the culmination of many years work exploring the subject of learning in youth work and has involved numerous members of the youth work community of practice in its development.

FOCUS learning combines a theoretical publication with various practical tools on the topic of learning in youth work. The publication and the large quantity of materials contained within it that can be easily accessed and used by youth workers, lecturers, and trainers.

This website is a resource with two targets:

It provides information and resources for youth workers engaged in direct work with young people, to support them in their work and in the professional development.

It is also a resource that is designed and produced for youth worker training and education. It is designed in such a way that it can be used for basic youth worker training and for advanced youth worker training / education. The emphasis here is that it is intended for both the non-formal education and formal education of youth workers. The resources can be used for workshops, training courses, teaching, and conferences.

The material resources bring together the expertise of different stakeholders from the community of practice. Apart from the publication, the resources include: short videos from youth work practitioners and young people on different youth work and learning subjects; there are a number of podcasts featuring a group of youth workers exploring learning in youth work; there are numerous learning cards and posters which provide in brief many of theories and topics explored in the publication – the learning cards contain questions and challenges; and there are short contributions – written blog posts and other formats – by the community of practice, that are published regularly on the website.

FOCUS Learning is a long-term strategic cooperation project between the National Agencies for the Erasmus+ Youth and the European Solidarity Corps programmes and SALTO Training and Cooperation.
